The National Drug Take-Back Day event provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for disposal.
United Way has trained volunteers from the community help prepare basic, current year tax returns for eligible taxpayers free of charge! For more information about the VITA program, visit their website here.

Born Learning Academies are a series of 6 workshops for parents who are either expecting a child or have a child who hasn't yet entered kindergarten. All academies are limited to 20 families and are available first come, first served.

The MLK Center will host an orientation session for the Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) at Black Hawk College. This program aims to prepare people to work in the building trades and to increase the number of minorities, women and disadvantaged persons working on Illinois Department of Transportation projects. Come enjoy a fun 2.6 mile bicycle ride with children and adults from the Rock Island community in observance of National Prevention Week.

Each year, United Way Quad Cities helps hundreds of local families prepare their income taxes, free of charge, with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance).
Trained volunteers prepare taxes for FREE for Quad Citizens with a household income of $57,000 or less — and make sure they receive all tax credits they are eligible for.
This year, appointments are required at ALL locations, including the Martin Luther King Jr Community Center. Schedule your appointment by calling 563-355-9900 or dialing 2-1-1.
VITA hours at the MLK Center: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm-8pm, and Saturdays from 9am-noon.
