Afterschool Program: Homework help, recreation, and life skills for kids ages 6 –17. Open Mon. - Fri. from 3 pm to 6 pm. Snack and dinner is provided. No cost. We transport from most Rock Island schools to our building. Register at the King Center.

Reach Out: During Rock Island school breaks, kids ages 6 –14 are welcome for supervised recreational and fun educational activities. No cost. Register at the King Center.

Summer Day Camp: Organized fun for kids ages 6 –14. Activities include a literacy program that successfully keeps kids learning through the summer. Mon. - Fri. from 9am - 3pm for 6 weeks. Breakfast and lunch provided. No cost. Rock Island residents only. Register at the King Center.

Metropolitan Kids Drill Team: This volunteer led program teach kids ages 3 –17 to perform marching and drumming routines for competitions or exhibitions in the Quad Cities and regionally. Membership fees apply. Register at the King Center.

The Rock Island Basketball Club 340's: A volunteer coached basketball program for underserved Rock Island boys and girls in 3rd to 8th grade. The season is April to September. Membership fees apply. Register at the King Center.

Rock Island Boxing Club: A volunteer coached boxing club program committed to teaching basic and advanced boxing skills aimed to learn discipline, build self-esteem, supporting academic success and creating a sense of accomplishment. Membership fees apply. Register at the King Center.

Substance Abuse Prevention: Trained and certified specialists teach skills to kids to resist alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in Rock Island school classes. No cost. No registration.

Teenage Pregnancy Prevention: A pregnancy prevention specialist teaches curriculum designed to encourage healthy choices. Occurs in Rock Island schools classes. No cost. No registration.


The Family Advocacy Center: Engages families with counseling, case management, and other services to build stronger families.

The A.C.T.I.V.E. Club: The Aging Citizens Taking Interest in a Variety of Experiences Club encourages our citizens 55 years and older to remain active in their community. Membership fees apply.

Tax Preparation Program: Free income tax preparation for qualified families and individuals. Operates from January to April. Call 211 or (309) 732-2999 for more information.
